Franklin PhD Studentship
We are recruiting open-minded students from any scientific, mathematical, engineering or computing discipline to work on the development of instruments across our Themes. Our next cohort will commence their studies in October 2023.
Our one-of-a-kind fully funded PhD programme will provide high-level interdisciplinary skills training, individual mentoring, access to industrial collaborations through a team of world-leading supervisors and new laboratory facilities.
Franklin PhD students will have a wide-ranging choice of project, which will have real-world impact and collaborate with universities and partners across the UK. They will receive an annual stipend and other benefits shown here.
We welcome applications from international candidates, who bring unique perspectives and experiences to the Franklin. We can offer one international candidate a funded place on our Franklin PhD studentship. The successful international candidate will remain registered with University of Edinburgh for the four years, whilst based at the Franklin, during which time Edinburgh will generously cover international tuition fees. This means that this applicant will not have to pay any fees and will also receive an annual stipend funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. Please note that the Franklin cannot fund visa application costs, international flight costs or the immigration healthcare surcharge.
We are recruiting throughout the year to fill our cohort.
